The Craft of the Shaman
The purpose of this article is to provide a deeper understanding of the Modern Western Shaman. As there are many paths a Shaman can walk, this article will focus on the author’s Shamanic path, that of the Energy Shaman.
Carl Sagan, Fritjof Capra on “The Dance that Reveals the Mysteries of Universe” – Part IIDr Fritjof Capra has done research on particle physics and systems theory and has written popular books including the famous book The Tao of Physics. Physicists speak of the continuous dance of sub-atomic matter which goes on all the time. The most beautiful example of this metaphor exists in Hinduism – the idea of the dancing Lord Shiva. Shiva is the personification of the cosmic dance.
This article asserts that an expanded definition of the usual understanding of confession – owning and admitting material in our psyche that was previously hidden from sight – actually leads to a transformation of the personality and makes new behaviors possible.
The Bible God -Trading Up – We Can Do BetterFor the last 4000 years, our Western concept of God has been based on the God that evolved out of the Old Testament Theocracy of Ancient Israel. That God came into His own as an evolution from earlier gods, all of whose indivdual traits, the True God Most High was given. It is this God that we have come to “love” in some way, though it seems mostly a one way street in practical human experience. It is this one true God of the OT that we read is a jealous God, never thinking that in that context, He was jealous because there were still other gods a lingering and it was not, at that time, he was the only one, but just needed to be the top one. Therefore, “you shall have no other gods, BEFORE ME.” The others are lesser types and don’t forget it. “I am a jealous God.” Even as a kid, I wondered why the only God was jealous of no other gods that existed, until I learned that when the Decalogue was given, they did exist. I guess they have since moved elsewhere.
Lack of Faith Ties the Hands of Almighty God in His Working Among the Children of Men; Part IChrist’s miracles are object lessons. They are living pictures. They talk to us. They have hands which take hold of us. Many valuable lessons do these miracles teach us. In their diversity, they refresh us. They show us the matchless power of Jesus Christ, and at the same time discover to us His marvelous compassion for suffering humanity.
The Road To Damascus – A Look at Acts 9:3-9Anyone who has had a personal experience with the Lord will tell you how life changing it can be. Today we are going to look at one experience like this that is documented for us in the book of Acts.
Today we are going to take a close look at one of the parables that Jesus told as a model of God’s love for us. You will see that once it is put into the context of that society it could mean much more than a casual reading today would lead us to believe.
A Humanitarian Needs Help!Humbly I ask for your help in an area of growth needed to reach my potential. I am here to help humanity however I am not here to intimidate. Does charisma and passion block our gifts to serve and reach the heart of our audience?
Understanding The 10 CommandmentsAfter thinking about each of the 10 commandments I have arrived at the conclusion that for me they are not offensive. I would not feel discriminated against or violated in any way seeing them in print.
Sometimes We Don’t Need Rain Near as Much as We Need LuggageI used to fast and pray for things. They seemed like important things at the time and somehow I was told that if we pray long and hard, and go without eating, God will hear us. I always wondered why God was so deaf in the first place. Rain is a pretty normal thing to expect, “in due season.” Why does the Deity not keep it seasonal, predictable and convenient so the crops can grow normally and abundantly? One year it’s on, one year it’s off, two years it’s off, one year it’s back. Are these reflections of natual cycles or do humans tick God off on a seasonal basis?
Why I Can’t Give Up on ReligionHave you given up on religion? Well, don’t toss the baby out with the bath water. Reclaim your traditions in a meaningful, loving way.
Carl Sagan, Fritjof Capra on “The Dance That Reveals the Mysteries of Universe” – Part IIn order to understand the mysteries of Universe one has to turn to Nataraja, The King of dance says Carl Sagan, the world renowned astronomer. He said that “The Hindu cosmology may contain the answer to the modern day astronomers’ conflicting views that the universe may either be expanding or contracting.” Pointing to the statue of Nataraja, the dancing model of Shiva, he said, “The answer lies in Hindu Cosmology.”
