In Jewish tradition, the term “Lord” (Greek: kurios) – as used extensively in Acts, as well as most other books in the Bible – is used (in Acts) interchangeably to describe both the Father and the Son, Jesus. It is clear that at times the term the “Lord” is used to describe the Father, whereas other times it’s used to describe Jesus – numerous times it describes God: the Father or Jesus or Father/Son/Holy Spirit; for these purposes, one and essentially the same.

Religions and churches have a plan for man and it is based on words. God, the Creator of the Universe, has a plan for man and it is based on action. God knew each of use before we were born and He had a loving and careful plan. From the beginning His plan included human nature. God wants His most precious possessions (us) (humans) to enjoy ‘desires of the flesh’ as long as our own actions don’t harm anyone else. God put His action plan into the DNA genes of every human.

Faithfulness means to be full of faith and that is important because faithfulness is the fiber that holds the world together. Without faithful people, the world would fall apart.

The Law of Belief is stated in the Scriptural quote “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” It has also been said in other ways. “You are what you think.” The Law of Belief can also be called The Law of Feeling because what you believe, you also feel to be true. And how you feel causes you to perceive your world in a certain way and causes you to act or react in certain ways which in turn causes a particular experience or result in your life. “If Heaven is so beautiful, so peaceful, so deliciously wonderful, what to we do there,” my friend Carol asks? She’s worried she’ll be bored without the contrast of duality. “…After pondering that a bit, I think I would be like a kid with my hand in the cookie jar at Christmas time. Holy cow! I can create ANYTHING I want and have all the fun in the world/universe doing it?”

Faith can be a difficult thing to hold onto, particularly when you consider the evidence of human nature: in other words, life as it is. For example, take a walk round Westminster Abbey as I did the other day – here, in this major spiritual hub and London tourist attraction you’ll pass the shrine of St Edward the Confessor, and clustered around him many monuments and tombs. The official tourist guide says these speak both of human dignity and achievement. But do they? Among them we find both the goodies and the baddies. Some are noble but others got there by ruthlessly exploiting everyone and everything in their lust for power.

Giving God (not man) His rightful place as the Sovereign King and Lord of all is the key that unlocks all the treasure of the spiritually abundant life that Jesus speaks of. Sadly, many people never know the joy of knowing God personally. The reason is that most people are afraid of what their family and friends will say if they become “religious.” The facts is, God created the sun, moon and stars and no man will stand before Him with any excuse for ignoring or denying Him. God is not an obscure power or an impersonal force, He is a person and you can know Him! While this all may sound a bit strong, but the greatest commandment in all the Bible is to love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself! What would happen if every one followed those two commandments? We would live in a perfect world. Are you aware of any one else who could fix the world with two simple laws?

I remember wrestling in my mind with what I thought were conflicting notions of praying specifically for something to happen and trusting God in His sovereignty. I had allowed myself to be robbed of one of God’s greatest gifts to us through the Holy Spirit and the priestly work of Christ. I must pray without ceasing about EVERYTHING!
