When St Paul lamented his carnal, unspiritual nature saying that he continued to do things that he hated and did not do the good things he really desired to do, it was his higher self speaking. We all have such a self with aspirations and desires that align with God’s purposes.

A while back, I made a post on the issue: why would God create the spider wasp? Today, I received the following question from a reader and, as my reply was beginning to get a bit long-winded, I thought that instead, I would attempt to answer it here in open forum.

We wrestle against powers and principalities in high places, not flesh and blood. Jesus died on Calvary and upon declaring ‘It is Finished!’ Satan was defeated in every facet of our lives. Our selfish desires and not keeping our hearts and minds set on Jesus cost people greatly each day. The Bible tells us to be anxious for nothing, but the culture we live in today thrives in a faster, faster and more productive mind set. The world is looking for answers to all of life’s events and it is looking to Christians to demonstrate what Christ has intended for this life….peace, joy, and security in knowing that God has our lives in his hands and our lives have been planned for his ‘good pleasure.’

Beta spirituality, likewise, fits the Francois Fenelon tag. There is intentionality about it.

Salvation comes to many with compassionate words of love and the sincerity of words but with others it may take fear, fear of Hell fire and eternal separation from God. We see in scripture that we are to use both to convert the lost, not hating them but loving them enough to use whatever means necessary to show them that without Jesus there is no salvation from the world to come.
