In John 10:10, Jesus said, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” There are some things we must watch for to keep Satan and the forces of darkness out of our lives. BATTLING a prideful, ambivalent spirit at a pastoral retreat, we were asked if we needed prayer. (“I don’t want to do this, Lord,” was my heart.) Then it was asked of others who had not opted to be prayed for, if they would gather around and pray for those who needed prayer. I said, “Okay, Lord, I’ll do it.” I prayed for a pastor who’d been in pastoral work twenty years – double my time; someone I also look up to in the blogosphere. The moment I placed my ‎hands on his shoulders something happened in my spirit!

If we wish to lose weight, we should pray that God would free us of the desire to overeat. If we would want a closer relationship with Jesus, we ought to pray to be free of the desire to be distracted by less important things. If we want what we do not yet have, shouldn’t we first pray for a desire to enjoy those things God has already given to us?

Have you ever heard or said… Reach for the Stars? When I was a little girl, sometimes I would lay on the cool grass on a warm summer’s night and look up at the stars and long to be among them. In my dreams at night I would fly, free to be among the Heavens, free from the confinements of my physical body, as light as a feather floating on a soft breeze.

Letting go is when we let go of attachment to our situations or experiences. We let go of “What if’s”, we let go worrying, we let go of doubt, we just simply let go of everything including the past and future. A lot of the fear that manifests within us is present due to how we focus on whether or not the present will be like our past.

GETTING into our own head is not something that many of us want to do. But it is what we need. What we need is not what we want, but when we have seen we will never go back.

WHAT is the point of the Sermon on the Mount if it’s so impossible to obey? It seems only momentarily sustainable in obedience terms. But perhaps we are missing the point if we think too legalistically or statistically (i.e. percentage of obedience versus percentage of disobedience).

Spiritual Consciousness is not what you “think.” This is literally true because the human mind is the thinking tool and is limited in its capacity to perceive anything it cannot see, hear, smell, taste, or touch. Our thinking minds are at the top of the evolutionary pyramid in the animal kingdom but what we truly are is much more than just our thoughts. We can try to explain Spiritual Consciousness with our brains and our words but these can only point towards the truth, never contain, conceptualize, or anything similar to placing it in some box with a label on it. We all have access and can “know” our spiritual selves but when communicating with words, stories, and our physical bodies, we are only able to provide signs pointing the way.

There are 4 sources of religious knowledge: Qur’an, Sunnah, Ijma-i ummah (consensus of the ummah), Ijtihad (case law). The right path defined by these 4 sources which are called “Shar’i Dalail ” (The Legal Proofs) is called the ahl al-sunnah path. This is the right interpretation of Qur’an by Rasulullah, Sahaba, and interpreters of Islamic law, and the correct life style of muslims that Allah (swt) commanded and it will lead us to salvation. The deviances in religion which emerged in time are called “Bid’ah”. Every bid’ah takes away a brick from the perfect Islam structure. Therefore, bid’ah inventors have been cursed.
