Twelve Top Tips for Selecting Your Crystals
Selecting your crystals can be serious business, especially if you are worried and concerned with getting it right: You need the proper stone to do the job; the one with all of the right properties; one that’s not too big and not too small; should it be rough or smooth; it’s got feel right and resonate at just the right frequency and of course you’ve got to like it. Talk about a tall order! Wow! But, it’s also supposed to be fun, light-hearted, spontaneous and spirit directed. Hey, is this getting harder or easier? As I set out to write, I had a clear intention of what I wanted to convey – an extension piece outlining many of the different and often very humorous methods employed by some people to select their crystals. Some time later, I scrapped what I had written, because while their methodologies where well presented, my writing lacked the humour that I can manage so well when verbalising these same events.
Metaphysical Properties of ApatiteApatite is a relatively new find in the crystal world so it doesn’t have any ‘old world’ history to report. Apatite was so named in 1788 from the Greek apatao meaning ‘to deceive’ or ‘to be misleading’, as Apatite was often confused with other crystals, especially Fluorite and Aquamarine.

Metaphysical Properties of Lapis LazuliLapis Lazuli is considered by most to be an individual crystal or gemstone, however technically speaking it is a composite of minerals in rock formation. It is mainly composed of lazurite (25% to 40%), a feldspathoid silicate and various other minerals including, aluminium, augite, calcium, diopside, enstatite, hauynite, hornblende, mica, noseun, silicon, sodium and sulphur. The characteristic flash of gold is caused by small pieces of Pyrite embedded within this marble like stone. Lapis Lazuli usually occurs in crystalline marble as a result of contact metamorphism. It comes primarily in shades of blue, but can also be found in slightly greenish shades. Intense azure blue stones with lots of Pyrite flecks and without white veins (Calcite) are the most sought after specimens. Its name is derived from ancient Persian. At between 5 and 6 on the Mohs scale, this stone is among the less hard gemstones.
Metaphysical Properties of IoliteIolite is also known as and mineralogically referred to as Cordierite, which was discovered in 1813 and named after the French geologist Louis Cordier (1777-1861). A magnesium aluminium silicate, Iolite is a blue silicate mineral that occurs as crystals or grains in igneous rocks as a result of contamination of the magma by aluminous sediment. It has a pleasing blue colour with a rather extraordinary optical property – the gemstone changes colour depending upon which angle it is viewed from. It has a hardness factor of 7.5. The name Iolite comes from the Greek ‘ion’ which means violet. Another old name is Dichroite, a Greek word meaning ‘two-coloured rock’, a reference to its strong pleochroism. It has also been called ‘water-sapphire’ and is known as The Vikings’ Compass because of its usefulness in determining the direction of the sun on overcast days. This works by determining the direction of polarization of the sky overhead. The Viking mariners used thin pieces of it as the world’s first polarising filter. Looking through an Iolite lens, they were able to determine the exact position of the sun, and navigate their way safely to the New World and back
Faith for Finances: It’s Like Learning to Drive a StickToday, I want to talk about how our minds work, how our conscious and our subconscious works and how our belief system is developed. I also want to talk about how meditation plays a role in this. Then we will have concluded the paradigm shift, which is a matter of changing the way that we think. It’s a matter of transforming our decision-making process. We have a lot of things in us on a deep level that need to be changed and we have to change our thoughts on purpose. We talked last week from Isaiah 55:7-8 that we have to also forsake our ways.
