While driving to work thin morning, I saw the junk removal truck in a homeowners drive way. I would imagine that someone is doing some early spring cleaning.

That in it self and also being a free thinking and outspoken woman, I turned away from the religion I was born into. Outside of Wicca I have not found religions to be fair and equal for a female to hold a strong and influential role such as a pope, mullah, or rabbi as religious leaders and not in the role of wives and mothers. I’m opened to learning about religions that support a woman in decision making roles for the religion’s laws and dogmas.

“Hey Honey, come look. There is a huge bird in the tree that I have never seen before!” I pointed out the window to what looked like a beautiful mahogany colored bird, bigger than the red-tailed hawk that often sits in the trees behind our house. Del studied the bird for a moment through the binoculars before he said, “Wow you are right that is the most amazing bird I ever saw.” The caution light went off. Del was way too excited; he had to be teasing. I looked through the binoculars and discovered the truth. What had looked like an exotic and beautiful bird – on closer observation – turned out to be…leaves!

It was a beautiful fall day, a perfect day to work in the garden. My plan was to move two hosta plants that resided in an area that received direct afternoon sun, and move them to the morning sun area of the garden, which is their preferred location.

My daughter recently called me to tell me that a high school boyfriend, who had remained a friend died suddenly at the age of forty-five. That same day, my granddaughter’s friend was killed in an automobile accident on the way back from basketball practice. Also on the same day, two police officers, best friends of her uncle, were shot and killed in the line of duty. All of this loss hit my daughter and her friends suddenly. What do you do?

Regardless whether you are a Christian believer or not, the Old and New Testament of the Bible refers to God as our Shepherd irrespective of whether we believe in Him or not. Sheep, like people, can be foolish and wander away from the flock – and the shepherd, ever mindful of a sheep as defenseless, is faithful to search, find and bring back the lost one to the safety of the herd, being careful to treat their injuries and nurse them back to health. Thus, as God knows each of us and our idiosyncrasies, so the shepherd knows each sheep’s unique characteristics – and anticipates what they may do next.

If you are lucky enough to find a wise man or woman don’t be surprised is they don’t dispense wisdom like a soda vending machine. Wisdom is not the type of thing that can be offered to another like an afternoon cup of coffee.

Paying it forward is defined by Wikipedia as “the concept of asking that a good turn be repaid by having it done to others instead.” The concept was unknown to me until a few months ago when I found myself scrambling around for an extra 50 cents to pay my bus fare. As I scrambled and the bus driver sighed a woman behind me quietly placed a 50 cent coin on the fare plate.

Many people have taken the risk and left the old mind-numbing job they hated in pursuit of their one true passion which may be a talent for something like writing, drawing, painting, constructing, baking, cooking, collecting, antique restoration… the list is endless. There are as many talents as there are people. We are all especially good at something. Who knows? You may not even have yet tried the one thing you are best at in the whole world. It’s time to explore your gifts, and to blow the dust off the ones you may have buried since childhood when teachers or parents even discouraged you from pursuing what you loved to do by being critical. Now we put the inner critic away and take a leap of faith and step into a new life where we can’t wait to get up each morning and spend the day doing what we love. If we make money for doing it, all the better. You are living your dream. It’s there waiting for you. Don’t put off that first step to bliss any longer. Things will conspire to work out once you commit to your path.
