Jewellers, Fashion Houses, Expensive Furnishings, Fine Food Shops And Car Show Rooms All Collapse!

Look at the merchants and the traders. They are those who are unconverted in the business world, and in commerce, and in politics, and even in religion. All those who had refused to listen to the God of mercy, and those who refused to come out, and those who refused to change, and those who had refused to repent, are depicted in this rather tragic scenario. There is a lot of sorrow and grief here, as we hear this voice of Lamentation, when men find out where their trust has led them. We get a glimpse of the sheer arrogance of power and riches. “Fading is the worldling’s pleasure – all his boasted pomp and show – solid joys and lasting treasure – none but Zion’s children know”. These are the rather profound words of a great hymn of the Church of Jesus Christ and it is so applicable in this passage.

When This Glorious Yet Catastrophic Event Takes Place How Will You Fare And Where Will You Be?

God has remembered her crimes. Surely that is not in the Bible. God is a loving and forgiving God and overlooks this type of thing. No. If sin is not repented of, God remembers it, whether it is personal or national or international. This is being said from heaven. We need to see that clearly. God hears what the world says. “I am all right. I sit like a Queen. I am not a widow. I will never be deserted.” As long as I offer pleasure I will never be without friends. I will never mourn. I will always be bright lights and the life and soul of the party. Whenever people come to me I will offer them whatever they desire. It is all there in what is called Babylon! Babylon is lying to herself, so she will lie to you too, and she is certainly doing this in these present days as so many duped and deceived and lured into all kinds and forms of sinful activity, and some are slowly being discovered and found out and that can have tragic consequences.

There Are Specific Special Voices We Need To Hear And Here Is Where They Begin To Speak!

It is like two businesses. Where are you going to invest? Are you going to invest in collapsing Babylon, or are you going to invest in the Kingdom of God? This world will look so good. It will be fashionable to be part of all that is going on. There will be the atmosphere of luxury and wealth, but underneath it will be nothing but immorality, corruption, and evil, and many will have been lured into its clutches, and this will be discovered when it is all too late. We hear a voice and it is the voice of condemnation. Babylon will fall. All that is of pride will fall. God has known this from the beginning. We read of complete destruction.

How Will You React And Respond When All This Is Physical Reality And No Longer Just A Vision?

The Book of Revelation is packed so full of such interesting and challenging visions that many try to steer away from the reality and truth of its teaching and when we see the big picture and not just the detail we can find it much more easy to grasp and understand. We read over in these Chapters of a gradual build-up, and we read of this strong united evil force that has one aim, which is to fight with the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, and to remove from the face of the earth every disciple of Jesus. Many of us are aware of this build up happening today. Why do so many people have no time for God and Jesus Christ and the Bible? Here lies the answer and this is the main answer.

Babylon is the opposite of the bride of Christ. There is this whore or prostitute which is so horrid and ugly and counterfeit and there is the Church of Jesus Christ which is the bride, and that theme is developed as the book goes on. The big question is – to which do you belong? Be very careful and avoid being flippant or superficial because your answer has eternal consequences.

When people used to read the book of Revelation they thought that what was written in these Chapters was so incredible, but not any longer. We have read of how a political and commercial and religious centre will emerge, and Babylon is the name given to this monstrosity. And in one short hour it will fall down. Investments and financial riches and bank books and so called securities, will be all over in one brief hour. In what are you investing? In what are you placing your future and your trust?
