What Price, Freedom?
Is freedom worth fighting for? Are we really free if we have to battle something or someone? I like asking questions, and I want you to think about, and envision with me, a life free from any reason to bear arms, or fists, or ugly words. That, my friend, is the freedom I am talking about.
Satisfaction Guaranteed – Right? Is there any such thing as satisfaction guaranteed when it comes to our wants and needs? I believe the answer to the question is yes even though I have days when I think it’s the absolute farthest thing from possible. What I am learning is that no matter what I think, that is exactly what I get. In other words, whether I think I can or I can’t, either way I am right.
If we are here, we are here for a reason, nothing happens without a reason, though it is not always necessary to know the hows and whys. Could it be that we are here simply to live?
Boat RideSo, here’s the deal: We went out on this boat. It was warm but a little breezy and we had our two dogs, NeNe(the dog) — not my wife — and General (the other dog). It was calm and the water was like glass. We like to ride in the wind and sometimes we don’t even speak. We’re very comfortable in our skins and with each other so we don’t have a need to fill the air.
A Story to TellIf you are reading these words, you are searching for answers. If you are searching for answers, you are not alone. If you’re like me, questions come naturally.
Just Another StormI love a good storm. Today we are feeling the effects of a tropical storm that is making history as a result of the number of landfalls that have occurred. I believe so far there have been four. It is interesting how we try to predict the path of a storm only to find that we are unable to do so with any real degree of certainty. This one has been described as having a mind of its own. Really?
I was reminded of our need for peace again today. I was out and about watching people like I like to do and I noticed many, not just a few, but many people wearing t-shirts commemorating the 9/11 tragedy. I am not one to suggest that we ever forget those who lost their lives, nor am I of the opinion that by wearing a shirt that reads, “We Will Never Forget,” that the wearer is even connected to the events of that fateful day… except through the window of their television set.
Belief is Human – Knowing is DivineHave you ever wondered how your beliefs create your reality? Find out how.
Spiritual Harvest – Letting the Soul Grow Into ItselfI learned that the usual white noise of life can cause unnoticed sensory overload, which greatly inhibits the process of settling into oneself. It also became clear to me that I am in a season of harvest. I have spent years plowing, tilling, planting, fertilizing and weeding my soul. Now it is time to let my inner most depths ripen to fruition. I need silence – the silence of books, conversations, and thoughts in order to allow my soul to grow into itself.
Prosperity Thought For the Day – FridayWithin the short time it takes to read this article, you can get, at least, a glimpse of God’s Goodness in your life. It just takes a willingness to look for the evidence of God’s Presence at any time and in any place.
Change Yourself and Change Your LifeThere is a guaranteed way to positively change your life for the better. The good news is that its free and it is all on you.
Centering Prayer – The Dilemma of Encouraging “Nothingness”Through centering prayer I have come to sense the “ground of my being,” my soul. It is a place of pure being, in both a noun and verb sense. It is formless, but seems to have some quality of heavy substance, a density to which I am drawn and yet there is a sense of nothingness. At and in this place, I just am; I am stripped down to nothing except being, being in God’s presence. How do you encourage others to embark on this arduous spiritual journey in hopes that they too might experience their “nothingness,” out of which they might find their true and fundamental identity?
