The purpose of your best idea is to propel you forward into greater awareness of the possibilities which exist for your life. Let’s say you’re hungry. You spy an apple dangling from a tree branch at the top of some hill so your best idea, understandably, is to climb the hill and grab the apple. But as you near the top of the hill – as you gain a new perspective – you realize that the apple tree represents only the edge of an entire orchard of trees – apple, orange, peach, Fig Newton – and so on.

In western culture, we celebrate decisive action. Less-celebrated but equally important is the spiritual process of unknowing – the spiritual process of waiting.

Each year Christmas comes to show us the way to peace. Peace in our lives and peace within. There is a great feeling of goodwill and love that envelopes the earth. How can we continue to express this love all throughout the year?

The Christ child is born in Bethlehem, in a sparse stable in the straw. The three wise men come to honor Him – following a star prophesizing the coming of a great teacher. As one bows down to enter the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, the invisible choir still sings the praises of that glorious moment in time.

I would find myself struggling to hold back tears. You have to be your own teacher and your own disciple. You have to question everything that man has accepted as valuable, as necessary.

The momentum towards a new planetary consciousness has clearly begun in 2007. The many events that have transpired both for individuals, and for humanity as a whole this year, have left a mark of truth imprinted upon the collective consciousness. It is now clear to all who have eyes to see, that our individual actions as well as our collective actions are needed in order to avert the current planetary crises.
