What a dilemma! We see so much that angers and frighten us. We know that it is not right to abuse anybody or anything. We feel our hearts crying, “It’s supposed to be different!” Deep inside we know how to lovingly treat our brothers and sisters, ourselves, and beautiful mother earth. We know the universal values of honoring and respecting all. We want so much to make it all better. We want to make a difference, but the question is, “How”?

Who do you think you are? I mean who do you feel you truly are deep down inside? Not who you are right this minute, not who you have been up until this very moment and not who you are expected by others to be in the future. I mean, who is the person you would really like to be?

In order to achieve the goals we set for in this life it is important to develop an ability to evaluate ourselves and our progress. Self assessment begins with an evaluation of the present, the immediate, the here and now. What are your present circumstances, what is your starting point of reference?

The ultimate goal for any effort in self improvement is to gain a clearer understanding of your own potential. Through the insights gained with self assessment a picture begins to form which shows the details of that potential. Who you will become begins to take shape in your mind, but with this new found insight, obstacles become apparent, behaviours and actions which have not served to help you on your way to improvement.

What do you do when life seems to have deserted you? Rely on yourself, or seek someone higher and more knowledgeable than yourself.

We are also experiencing internal changes, whether we recognize it or not. Old form is falling away as new form is being created. Metaphysically we are all undergoing momentous changes, a shift in consciousness, an expansion through which we are experiencing our world and our lives in a new way.

Another year is drawing to a close and we are all wrapped up in getting ready for this holiday. We are bombarded with commercials telling us that their product would make the perfect gift for ourselves or loved ones. We throw all financial caution to the wind and wild the ol’ plastic card out and say, “Charge it”. We’ll deal with the consequences later but for now, we can justify the overspending just to show someone we care. We can’t forget to check the tv listings for the 25 days of Christmas specials. Heaven forbid if we miss Frosty or the Grinch, after all, Santa is comin’ to town! These things seem to get us in the “festive mood”. But it’s not the festivities that God cares about. Have you taken the time to consider what Christmas really means to God?

I am a white, 59 year old mother of an African American 6 1/2 year old boy whom I adopted at the age of 13 days old and he has brought me more spirituality than words can express. He has given me the gifts of transformation and reconciliation and together we have assisted a most wonderful, dedicated teacher from Uganda who started a book drive for African children nearly three years ago. I have had the privilege of working with her in a low-socio economic school, The Martin Luther King, Jr. elementary in Cambridge, Massachusetts where she teaches Multi-Media a course designed to have children learn journalism: they interview the principal, assistant principal their favorite teachers, teacher’s aids, librarian and parents and ask questions about technology, math, ecology, science, astronomy and then write their question and answers on paper, then put the information into the computer with their summary essay. My article is about how one woman who organized a book drive and collected 51,000 books and touched the spirit of those who work with her and gave us her spiritual strength to overcome her obstacles and hurdles that have obstructed her from getting the books to the villages in Africa.

For the first time in our human consciousness, we are remembering the first light of pure thought creation that we individually manifested into this physical reality. We are at this moment entering the first wave of this awareness and experiencing the electrical charge of pure white light.
