Galatians 3 – The ‘Spirit and Flesh’ Conundrum

How might we contrast the Spirit and the flesh, for two things could hardly be more opposite? Faith is receptive of the Spirit; works alone is of the flesh, productive but not receptive at all. The flesh does its own thinking; those in the Spirit wait on God.

Harness the Powerful Energies of the Ruby For Healing and Stimulation

The gemstone ruby was held to be the stone of the sun, representing the life force and inner fire in the ancient cultures of Europe and India. The gemstones are mined in India, Madagascar, Russia, Sri Lankar, Cambodia, Kenya and Mexico and can be polished and faceted to reveal a transparent deep red colour, or left unfaceted and opaque. In India it is called the king of precious stones and it is believed that it can help to retain abundance and wealth.

Meeting Jonah’s Whale in Our Life

Imagine this: you are a strong boat sailing on various waters; accustomed to repelling the pirates of the sea, and repulsing the birds of prey from the air. You have done it for years – all is dandy. Then, suddenly, out of the blue one Saturday, when you least expect it, you are swallowed whole by an enormous whale which all the while had been lurking beneath you – it’s mouth closes all around you, and you go down living into the depths. Such happened to me. We set out, my wife driving, one Saturday, to visit my brother in Essex but never made it! Acute pain built up, and nearly made me pass out; we had to turn back and by evening I was in the Emergency ward of Bournemouth General Hospital. A clear blue sky had turned sombre and truly I was in the belly of the whale – truly, Jonah’s Whale!

The Energies of Cities

Cities contain energy from the earth, buildings, past events that have transpired within them and the people who live there. The energy of where we live affects us. We may find ourselves living in an area that brings us joy every day, or we may feel continuously unhappy or disconnected from the world around us. We don’t very often look to the energy of where we live as having an influence on our energy levels and feelings.

Why You Must Connect to Your Open Heart Now and How the Ascended Masters Have Paved the Way

As we move into the new energy that is coming our way, it is extremely important that we open our heart and keep it open. Our brain can make basic decisions for us, such as to when to go to the grocery store or what we want to eat for dinner. However, our brain has difficulty making important decisions, such as those in the areas of love, finance, relationships, etc. Only our heart can do that! Most individuals are living life with a closed heart. They open it when they experience happiness and close it down when they feel fear or sadness are approaching. Their decisions are made are from their brain which includes their thoughts and their EGO (Edging God Out). Not a optimal way to make decisions that serve their highest good. The EGO’s responsibility is to protect itself. So, it blames others, complains, and judges. Whatever it takes to protect itself and to be right.

The Christian’s Hope: Three Important Truths

Hope is a powerful idea and like all ideas it has consequences. It is one of the greatest gifts of God’s grace in Christ to us. It is a gift which is given to us to possess (so that we might live in hope) and to share (so that others may live in hope). When we instill hope in another person, we are participating in bringing glory to the grind. I Peter 1:3-4 tells us three important truths about Christian hope…

When Do We Know? How We Go From Learning to Understanding

I was thinking recently about how whenever we are expanding our awareness or are evolving, we first understand something intellectually before we understand it viscerally or from a place of “knowing”. What I discovered is that the Yoga Sutra 1.17 actually explains this process this 5-Step process.

How To Overcome Overwhelm By Embracing The Flow Of Time

Any motivated individual can find herself in a state overwhelm. We can strongly sense having too much to do and not enough time to do it. This perception, however, is an illusion. Such an idea is not rooted in truth. God does provide enough time in which to do the work He gives us. Additionally, He allots specific times in which to do each thing, as “there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1) If we feel we have too much to do, we likely do not see in which “season” we stand.

Jesus, Still The Best Role Model Humanity Has

Seeing Anna Hazare begin his hunger strike as a non-violent protest against corruption in India reminds me of that greatest of all pacifist revolutionaries, Jesus Christ. Still today, the most powerful form of protest is not the one that involves smashing windows, setting fire to property and looting, but the one which says, “Here I am. I am just a man. You can do whatever you like to me, but you cannot destroy my humanity.” Jesus Christ was (and is) the ultimate expression of everything that is good about being human, and we can do no better today than to remind our children of the role he plays in their lives by the example he set two thousand years ago

Forget About Yourself

Following God’s plan for your life requires boldness – the boldness to step out in faith even if your family doesn’t agree with you. In today’s Spiritual Cup of Coffee, we take a look at one of the hardest lessons to apply to our everyday lives. Matthew 10:36-39 says “Well-meaning family members can be your worst enemies…”

The Sound of Refreshment

When I go running I like to run as much as possible along the wash. The wash is the place where the melted snow and rain of the mountains flow when they get to the city (in this case, the city of Redlands, CA). In the wash, the water runs along a small ravine and it has what amount to dirt trails on each side of this small ravine. That is where I run. In contrast to summers past, the water in the wash is still flowing. Running at this time of year (though I run at 6:30 am) is very hot and the heat can sometimes drain energy and drive. When I hit the wash and hear the flow of water, I feel energized. Hearing the flow of the water in the wash is, for me, the sound of refreshment.
