As we seek to live with purpose and peace, it helps to draw metaphors from Nature to more clearly understand God’s purposes and God’s ways. The fragrance released when grass is cut is both beautiful and refreshing. As it grows undisturbed, the fragrance of grass is mild; but, when grass is cut, the fragrance it emits is aromatic and powerful. We can bring this fragrance metaphor to our own lives and ministries It is natural for us to view favorably the periods of ease. Yet, when our lives flow undisturbed and without trial, the true depth and strength of our love and faith is concealed. When, however, we are in the midst of trials – when we are cut and squeezed and pressed – the essence of who we are flows forth for the world to experience.
Simple Truths on Evil and Good – 22 Spiritual LawsThese laws are for those who have made the commitment to evolve. Many religious instructions take one side or the other on Evil and Good. It is through this perspective that duality is created.
Tears Along The WayRecently, I had a conversation with a colleague about why there isn’t much offered in the spiritual literature, by advanced spiritual travelers, concerning their trials, physical aches and pains of being human, and general ‘bitch session’ with friends/students about life. My own teacher never discussed any of his personal problems, doubts or fears, or anything that was not targeted at helping the student advance.
Changing PerfectionI keep hearing that we are not perfect and I must disagree. Each of us is being the best person we know how to be, at the present moment, with the information we have, and I believe that makes us perfect. We don’t always like everything about ourselves or our lives, which is a catalyst for change.
Devout Catholics have followed a tradition that goes back thousands of years. They acquire a circular strand of beads/gemstones called Rosary beads. The beads are used by the individual to count off prayers, and decades while the rosary is being recited.
How To Practically Live The Christian LifeSo many believers in Christ Jesus are having problems living the christian life on a real, practical, day by day basis. They are struggling with all kinds of bad habits, insecure mind-sets and attitudes, and hurts and wounds of past relationships and friendships. Maybe you are one of them. We are facing a very, very challenging time. Evil seems to be abounding on every hand. The world has changed, and the person who does not see this simply does not want to see it. The world’s system is getting worse and worse. Problems abound and governments seem clueless as to the solutions necessary to turn the downward trend of civilization back to an upward trend of success and achievement. While this is going on, it appears as if we who follow the Lord Jesus Christ are being constantly bombarded with temptations of lust, fear, and unforgiveness, and many are succumbing to the pressures of the enemy, lured away because of the weakness of the flesh.
How To Commune With God Through NatureThe better we understand Nature, the more we appreciate how natural patterns reveal the wisdom and love of God’s Laws. Nature is God’s creation, and Nature therefore exudes God’s glory. Natural laws and patterns display the laws and patterns of human existence. For example, the thoughts, words and actions of man are akin to seeds which are sown. Spending time in Nature truly allows us to commune with God, for God beautifully demonstrates His Word through His Works. He communicates with our minds, hearts and spirits through His Masterpiece.
How To Find Peace And Purpose Through Centered LivingAs we live purposefully, it is helpful to gauge the extent to which our personas are centered…or fragmented. We have all encountered people who seem to morph depending on the crowd surrounding them or depending on their current circumstances. The traits and values they display in one moment easily shift into the next. Each one of us, on some level, has experienced this firsthand in our own lives. Although some claim that being mutable to please others is a positive thing, this mutability is not Biblical nor does it allow healthy, rewarding and purposeful living. The more firmly fixed upon the unchanging Truth of God’s Word, the more clearly centered we are in our lives…and in our journeys. As we grow centered and solid in the boundaries of who we are, we become clear in our direction, vivid in our vision, purposeful in our path.
Isaiah 12 – The Remnant’s Thanksgiving and PraiseA punchy six-verse chapter elicits thanksgiving and praise for what has taken place in the vision of Isaiah in previous chapters, noting the righteous reign of the coming King (Isaiah 9:1-7), the action of repentance by the remnant of Israel (Isaiah 10:20ff), and reflections over the ensuing peaceful Kingdom (Isaiah 11:1-9). Descriptions of the return of the remnant are given in the Isaiah 11:10-16.
