Every negative situation you experience in life is a test to see if you can be moved from who you think you really are. If your sense of self can be changed so easily according to every difficulty, disappointment and failure that you face, then your identity isn’t so true after all. True identity is unchanging and becomes even stronger with each opposing circumstance that seeks to destroy it, because it is tied to true reality.

There is no greater example of living life in the Spirit than the way Jesus lived his life. All throughout the gospels, Jesus instructs us how to do it and then shows us how to do it. In Mark 4:35-40, we find one of those powerful lessons where He is showing us how to do it. Here, we are told the story of when Jesus and the disciples were at sea and a great storm arose. The disciples were gripped by fear and basically freaking out. Meanwhile, Jesus is at total peace and asleep in the boat.

The lawn was filled with briers and thistles. It was like a web spreading out and capturing my once beautiful green grass. How could this have happened? I did everything right! I toiled and slaved in order to have the most perfect lawn and garden and now my labor resulted in overgrown weeds.

Sometimes controlling tendencies come from fear, other times from our pride and self-importance. These controlling often manifest as questions- are they better humored or ignored?

Is Buddha’s path all about zoning out? Did Buddha intend for his yogas to be escapist?

I am inclined to believe too many people feel justified in running out of life. They seek not to forgive because someone hurt them, therefore; they remain bitter and seek revenge.
