The key test of obedience is our response when all doors – desirable or preferred – close, leaving no option but to go the way we’ve avoided all along. Accepting God’s last Word on the matter of relevance before us right now – or on any matter of relevance – is first a decision, then, upon commitment, a process of both acting on and continually revising and reaffirming our decision.

The movement of the tide is beautiful in its grace – but it’s temporary, as we’re personally concerned. One hundred years from now we will be as those who lived one hundred years beforehand – gone several decades. Our real home awaits each of us.

Are you ready for 2012? How many people have asked you questions like: What do you think will happen? Do you believe it will be the end of the world? Are you afraid? We are so stubborn. We insist on always worrying about the future instead of enjoying the present. We miss many opportunities and blessings as a result of our constant regretting the past or worrying about the future. I am going to ask you something different: Have you noticed that 2012 is already here?

Wisdom is not only obtaining information; it is also the process of analyzing and applying that information to problems, thought or circumstances, that may, or may not need a resolution. The wisest man on earth, King Solomon, had much to say about wisdom.

In this age of technology and materialism, when many wonder what tomorrow will bring, the resurgence of spirituality is a normal phenomenon. For centuries, people have turned to religions or other belief systems for support and understanding. Yet it never resulted in a better world on a global level.

People including myself are getting tired of being thrown a pill for every ailment we have. If you’re sad, we’re told to take a pill; if we’re having digestive problems, we are told to take a pill. People are being told to treat their physical symptoms with so many medications…and we don’t even want to go into the short and long-term negative side effects of all these drugs.

The spiritual path we must walk is unlike any other. It is easy to get lost while on the Way, and the lives of many saints are proof of this. For this reason we need a map to give us assurance that during our times in the wilderness we are still on the Way.

I have always been a trusting person… very trusting for that matter. This brought about a lot of stupid decisions which eventually made me accept that I lacked what the world calls “gut-feel”. I had to go through several humbling experiences for me to finally realize that I needed discernment.

Question: What’s in your hands? Now most of you would look down at your hands and say, “I see nothing!” Nevertheless, I am not focusing on what’s literally in your hands because I know that some of you opened this email on a hand-held device, and even your cell phone. However, I want to speak to what is figuratively in your hands.
