What’s up? I’m sure a lot. Probably doing some shopping, maybe a lil baking, wrapping up some year end work, wrapping gifts, prepping for a great start to 2012. Good stuff. Glad to hear. Hopefully though, you’re taking some time to enjoy and celebrate this season of Christmas and reflect on a couple of things.

I recently read an article about a series of billboards which question Christian beliefs, posted in Florida, Ohio, and New Jersey by American Atheists. The signs prominently feature pictures of Jesus, Santa Claus, and devil images, and ask, “what myths do you see?” According to American Atheists, the purpose of the campaign is not to attack Christians but to encourage them to ask themselves why one god is different from goods they call myths.

God has given to His church apostles today as a gift to help the church gage spiritual growth. When the pattern of God’s sanctified stewardship was lost by neglect, then Satan replaces the original with a placebo. Under this spell people established their own doctrinal standards by the plastic shekel. Throw away those evil tokens and put on Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately most people don’t live their life in accordance with these two principles. They tend to think that they have 100% control over situations and that things never change. To illustrate this point you only have to look at this life. You don’t stay young forever, friendships, relationships change over time as well. And we are certainly not on this earth forever. Eighty or ninety years if your lucky, sometimes less. Yet people live their life as if they are going to be here forever and that things will never change. And worse still, you don’t even know when you are going to die. It could be tomorrow, it could be in 40 years time. And that is impermanence in action. Through appreciating the principles of impermanence and interdependence and realising that you will eventually die one day makes you look at the world in a slightly different way. It definitely impacts on how we respond to the ups and downs of this world, learning not to take them to heart as much. Instead to look at the bigger picture.

In the biblical book of Revelation we read that God’s holy city, the “New Jerusalem”, descends from heaven. How does this relate to Israel?

I love Christmas, and I am especially looking forward to it this year because, as some readers of my articles may have deduced, I have been seriously ill and in hospital for three months. At one point it looked as if I wouldn’t make Christmas at all; and then as if I’d still be in hospital over Christmas. So to be out of hospital and at home with the prospect of Christmas before me seems truly wonderful. Of course, for some, Christmas is fundamentally flawed – it has been spoilt, commercialised, and all its true values have been destroyed. These people have a point; but what is the real meaning of Christmas?

Leading a Bible study has a number of challenging dynamics for the leader, one of which is finding the best place and time for prayer. There is a delicate balance that occurs between providing a time of prayer while also gently guiding the group back to the study.

One way indigenous cultures identified soul loss in a person was that they had stopped singing. The joy they usually showed in their natural state of wholeness was no longer emanating from them. A part or parts of them had fragmented and the result was a lack of joyfulness. Something was immediately done to bring that energy back to the person when another noticed this lack of joy.

Building a relationship with your power animal is a necessity; it takes time and energy. The journey is one of the most effective ways to make contact with the spirits. The altered state of consciousness in a non-ordinary reality achieved in a journey allows you to transcend the limitations of the rational world with which we are so familiar.

We all have an ego and yet this ego is holding us back from finding the oneness that we should be seeking. It is the bane of our existence and should be eliminated from our thoughts. It is this ego that separates us from the spirituality that will lead us to peace and serenity.
