Embarking on Your Spiritual Journey

When you think of a spiritual journey, what do you envision? A monk in a monastery? A nun in a convent? A shaman or medicine person from an ancient tribe? These individuals are certainly on spiritual journeys – but when you really think about it, we all are. A spiritual journey doesn’t have to mean giving away your worldly possessions and leaving your current life to give your full attention to spiritual matters. Rather, a spiritual journey can mean consciously striving to learn, grow and develop your spiritual self – even while in the context of your life as it is today.

Activities to Boost Your Spiritual Power

Do you consider yourself to be spiritually powerful? Or are you still trying to find and connect with your own inner power? Exactly what your inner power is can be debated, but I like to think of it as the spark of divinity within you. It’s the part of you that is always connected to Source (no matter what name you apply to that Source), and it’s the part of you that is uniquely “you.” In other words, it’s the ESSENCE of who you are on a spiritual level; the core of your being.

Achieving Spiritual Balance

In a world geared toward excess, it can be challenging to achieve balance in our spiritual lives – not to mention the rest of our lives. However, an unbalanced spiritual life has the potential to seep disharmony into the other areas of our lives, no matter how ordered they may be initially. Just as your health and well-being depend on balanced nutritional habits, your spiritual practices must be in balance to promote total harmony through all areas of your life.

Follow Your Inner Guidance, Not The Advice Of Friends

Have you ever had a problem that you talked over with lots of friends? Usually their answers are predictable if you know them well. In fact, if you want a certain answer you will choose the friend that will give it to you. Many of the experiences that you have in life are …

Contribution and Compensation – Why How We Define Them Matters

We’re all taught that giving is a good thing. We’re all taught that whatever we give, we’ll reap the rewards ten-fold. Scientists are even gathering evidence that suggests unconditional giving causes our brains to create and release endorphins-a natural chemical similar to morphine, which relieves pain, gives what marathon runners call a “runner’s high,” and may even reverse aging. But, if giving is so great, if giving fills people up, then why do we sometimes feel as if we have given so much that we have nothing left?

Connecting With Conscience – Activating That Still And Quiet Voice Inside

Your compass is your conscience. Your sense of right and wrong. Your ability to make choices, and your ability to live with your choices without making excuses for yourself, or assigning blame. Nevil Shute, one of the finest novelists of the twentieth century, wrote a book called Round the Bend. In the book, his protagonist recounts a fable about Moses and Mohammed. This fable has haunted me since I first read it at the age of twelve…

Keys to The Secret

In the last decade we have learned so much about how to use our mind and manifest what we want. The Law of Attraction goes back thousands of years to the ancient Vedas of India. When Yogi’s would align with the Innate Intelligence of the Universe, and realize their true nature, they would gain this ability to miraculously manifest whatever was wanted or needed in what was called “siddhi’s.”

The Awakening

In 1990 I received a calling to go to India with my good friend and partner Jim Smith. I closed down my business, packed away a few belongings and said goodbye to my family and friends to meet up with my first guru, Yogiraj Vethathiri Maharishi (“Swamiji”), a Kundalini Master from an ancient lineage in the Tamil Nadu state in South India. I had been apprenticing with Swamiji for five years and it had been at his suggestion we created The Self Awareness Institute back in 1985 to teach these methods of enlightenment to a western world in a western way.

The Last Five Steps of Sainthood

And since they have given up the idea of themselves and can only see the needs of others, all of the conceit, pride, and arrogance that they may have had at one time now depart. All forms of assessing, judging, and self-righteousness disappear because a saint has nothing to compare what he or she knows with anyone else since in essence the saint no longer exists.

Christians Are Not to Worry

Nobody is spared from worldly concerns. The difference for Christians, however, is what the Scripture says about anxiety, and how we are to deal with it.

Job-Loss – Prayer-Strategy for the Second Day After the LayOff

“Honey, you don’t have to get up. I’ll turn the alarm clock off.” You may have forgotten to turn off the alarm clock but you haven’t forgotten yesterday.

Developing Godly Friendships

The Bible is very clear on the types of friends we should keep. Here is how my husband and I went about developing Godly friendships with other married couples.
