‘Abide’ is a word which is going out of the English language. We seldom hear it, because nobody abides long anywhere any longer. Remain – dwell – abide. John was aware of the pull to get people away from God – and away from Jesus Christ, as peculiar teachings were creeping into the Church at that time, and we have this today. John was a leader who knew how to lead. It is at this point that John gives the Church of Jesus Christ a necessary word of warning – “Love not the world”. This article may not have you jumping up and down with excitement, butt might produce fruit which is much more valuable and lasting – fruit which others can pick, eat and so receive essential nourishment and strength.

The Good Ground

In the parable of the sower, the seeds that fell on good ground are the ones that brought forth good fruits. The good ground is a Christian’s heart. A Christian who has made up there mind to serve God and practice out the word that has gone forth concerning his life.

Mathew 13 talks about the parable of the sower. It tells of how a sower went forth to put seed on the ground. Some of it fell by the wayside and died. Others fell on rocky ground and died after some time. This was because it had no good foundation for the roots.
