The Dark Night of the Soul – In Today’s World

When St. John of the Cross was imprisoned by the brothers of his own order, he wrote a poem. A two-book long poem called “Dark night of the soul.” It’s a poem about the challenges each of us goes through in our spiritual journey. The first book focuses on the purification of our senses. The second book is about the purification of our Spirits. Here is a real-world look at how that plays out in our daily lives.

Epiphany in the Silence

The greatest growths in our awareness happen within the silence. Some use meditation. Some go there in the twilight area between sleep and wakefulness. Still others, get there while daydreaming at a window.

Dreams: Visions

In life, many thoughts are born in the course of a minute, an hour, a day. Some of those thoughts manifest again in our dreams, while some are actually visions. Often, we are unable to distinguish between the two.

Delightfully Cracked, Wonderfully Broken

There is little point in pretending we have it all together, but there is no excuse in settling for less than our best. We may be wonderfully and fearfully made; we are just as much delightfully cracked and wonderfully broken. Only when we celebrate this fact are we ready for communion with God.

One Step Away From Homelessness

The dog was wrapped in a dirty plaid doggy coat and the man wore a coat that looked weathered from the outdoors. It hurt me to see them standing there together begging in the cold.

Finding Forgiveness

Family times are typically high times where get-togethers become historical occasions added to the scrapbook of life. Yet, out of this backdrop comes many a family feud; out of nowhere, usually for all protagonists, comes conflict that, for a time, cannot be reconciled. Then, there is the inevitable issue of resolution and forgiveness and healing… After all, we need to be able to live with ourselves; that means living peaceably with our loved ones. When all our relationships are going well most of life is, too.

Holy Cow: Tales From an Indian Ashram Part 1

Before I get started with the whole Indian vibe, I thought I should explain some terms I will be using. I don’t do this to patronise but after this experience I thought I should. I was having coffee in Cape Town, when someone in our group mentioned Pondicherry, I did not hear in what context so I asked if he was referring to the Pondicherry in India. He asked why I was asking and I said I was at an ashram not far from there.

Kinds of Guided Meditations: What’s Available How To Choose What You Need

Guided meditations and guided imagery programs fall into several categories. Here’s an overview to help you choose the best kind of program, depending upon your needs.

Spirit Guides – And Children

I’ve written a lot about my whispers from the universe and Dinahh, my spirit guide, who first appeared a little over a year ago. I’ve also written about events leading up to that first meeting, how they affected me personally, and how puzzling and strange it all seemed, even making me feel like I was weird – or worse, crazy. I’ve also explained how he’s helped me to understand my growing awareness and enabled me to see the whispers I’ve had since childhood, not as a curse, but as a gift.
