A few nights ago I took part in a local community “Meetup” that focused on spiritual experiences. The main focus was really NEAR death experiences, or people who have had close brushes with death, and have returned to tell the tale. Of course we all know about these stories.

I wonder if we don’t take too many things for granted and I wonder if we don’t realize that we have been blessed many times over. I wonder if we don’t complain too much about things that do not matter. What I don’t wonder about is the power of love; the power of love to transform us;the power of love that caused those teachers to reach out; the power of love that caused men to reach out to a boy’s cry for help.

Welcoming the intuitive into consciousness changes our world, leading us to live creatively and to connect with community and nature with an inner sense of awe and wonder. The symbols and synchronicities abound waiting for us to notice.

As you look at your life what do you consider God’s number one purpose is? The answer may surprise you. It is to make you more like Jesus. From the very beginning, God decided that those who came to Him should become like His son, Jesus. The Holy Spirit produces the fruit, and the Word of God feeds us, and helps us to encourage fruit to appear. The Word of God feeds, and also weeds! Problems and pressures and pains can also be used to enable us to become more like Jesus, as life confronts us with various challenges. You can laugh if you want to, but while watching a baking programme, I observed people taking flour and butter, and a rolling pin, and other ingredients which appeared quite dry and unappealing, but when worked together, and baked with expertise, a beautiful cake was produced. God can take the sweet things in our life, and the dry sour times, and work them together, to produce that bigger plan.

Are you doing what God wants you to do so to prosper you? Or are you trying to rush things for God and in the place of God because you feel that you can do it better and faster? How can you say that you trust God, when you are trying to take things into your own hands? Would that be faith or would that be fear?

Choosing to surrender is not the same as giving in because you feel defeated. Surrendering is all about letting go and releasing fear and doubt. It is about opening your heart, quieting your thoughts and calming your emotions so you can the choices that are in front of you.

So often we get into the idea of complaining and saying negative things out of our mouths. But do you really think of how that negativity that is coming out of your mouth, affects you! When reading the verse above it clearly states that the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Therefore, if negativity is coming out of your mouth, then what does that say about your heart? And if your heart is negative, then what does that say about you as a person?

Christmas, regardless of our religious connections is universally celebrated as a time of peace and goodwill between all and to all. It is a time of Delight and Celebration, of Love, of Hope and the coming together of people everywhere.Christmas opens us to an optimistic view of the future, because if we can behave like this for a few days then there is hope that we may eventually act like this all of the time.
