When we can adopt an appreciation of the present moment our minds slow down enough for us to enjoy the experience of being alive. Within this experience of staying centered in the present, you’ll find internal peace and mental and emotional clarity.

We confuse ourselves about the meaning of the spiritual path. And because of this confusion, we never embark on it. Yet the end of confusion comes from looking at the essence of true spirituality. Once we capture that essence, we can act in a way that sets our feet on that path.

In an exercise program, the muscle groups you concentrate on are the ones that improve. In a garden you can tell what is negelcted and what is lovingly sprayed, weeded, and enriched. Our spiritual lives are no different. Here are four ways to measure spiritual growth. Can you tell you are making progress?

A famous hymn describes Jesus as “despised and afflicted, homeless, rejected, and poor.” We often turn away from people like that when we meet them on the streets. But serving them is serving Jesus. How can we follow in the Master’s footsteps and bring good news to the poor?

In my imagined world no one exists but me. I live in an illusion of non existant beings and yet the illusion is solid enough to be reflected back to me in the eyes of others that I look into. These other beings come and go as I need them fading in and out of my life like early morning mists. Always there, always present but not visable. I am in a room of mirrors with distorted figures of myself. Awareness leading me back to this hallucination, a ghostly figure caught up in the illusion of self, believing that I actually exist.

Idolatry in all of its many forms retains one consistent principle: it does nothing for the worshipper, provides no power, offers no hope. God has a claim on our hearts, and this claim is exclusive. He yields ground to no other Master, no other god. He wants all of us, so that He can bless us in our totality.

Take a tour in a steel-and-glass monument to the world of high-finance business, and you find everything ordered in a predictable hierarchy. Then enter a skyscraper with a sign above the revolving door that reads, “Spiritual Realm.” Any surprises here?

Natural laws exist that serve to maintain order in the universe. These laws are usually manifested as regularity in nature (as in the seasons) or as a relationship between cause and effect. In the physical realm natural laws exist which govern the behaviour of matter.

Human beings serve as instrument of transformation of thoughts and ideas from the spiritual state to the physical state. Our mind which is an aspect of the brain mechanism is a creative device which enables us to relate to spiritual as well as physical existence.

Life is full of ups and downs. There is a time to sow and a time to reap. You cannot sow and reap at the same time. Everyone is born with the purpose.
