In less than 3 seconds my life changed forever. I was left with a message–Do not be afraid–heaven is closer than you think.

Everyone relies on some crutch for support and help in situations. What is your crutch? This article analyzes certain crutches for our situations.

Positive self talk is another buzz word in the self improvement industry along with positive thinking, positive speaking, positive this and positive that. Where are all those positive thoughts supposed to come from when the majority of what we are taught about ourselves is negative? Professionals in the self-help industry are teaching us that our parents and teachers molded our thoughts as children. They are teaching us that we need to replace the negativity with positive self talk, but few are teaching us where to get it. How can we produce positive results, from negative ingredients? We can’t. We must change the ingredients.

Recently Dr. Ken Hemphill came to my church to speak about our life’s purpose. At the end of the sermon, he summarized his main points by this statement, my life purpose is “I will advance His kingdom, by His power, for His glory.” His sermon made me pause and ask myself some questions. I would ask you to consider them as well.

What is your prayer life like? Do you find it hard to pray? Do find it hard to find time to pray? When you do pray do you have specific things you are praying for and you ask God to answer your prayer in a specific way?

Have you noticed how easy it is for children to laugh and how often they laugh? So, what happens when we become adults?

Do you as a Balcony Person lift up, encourage people, build them up, and bring them up? Or are you a Basement Person? As Christians we are called to follow God’s standard not the world’s.

We are coming to the time of the year when are children can get the “I want, or I need, or must have” for Christmas. There is so much pressure from everywhere to buy and meet our children’s every need and want. We often compare ourselves to others who have more than us not realizing how truly blessed we are.

As a new school year starts I am reminded of the importance of praying for our children and every area of their lives. Sometimes you may wonder what different things you should be praying for in your children’s lives.

The goals of yesterday are now only mist, slowly rising from our heated ambitions, meaning nothing, marching toward that anonymity that we recognize in the pit of our being, but hide from because we are not quite ready yet. But it’s harder to hide now, running out of places to hide, running out of reasons to hide. We stand naked more and more.

We as women often are good at putting ourselves down or not seeing ourselves as God sees us. I want us to examine some of the voices we often hear in our heads (no we are not crazy) to see if we are listening to the father of lies instead of God.
