There is a wonderful scene in Monty Python´s “Life of Brian” where a crowd has gathered outside the house of the mistaken messiah, Brian. Brian comes to the window and tells the crowd they are all free, independent people and should make up their own minds about things. They all chant back in unison “we are free, independent people and should make up our own minds about things.” Collective religiosity is a perversion of fellowship. We gather together for united worship, but not to be clones of one another. From the very moment of creation, free will was an important part of the deal.
