It is official! The power of prayer can heal, and it is not just wishful thinking of religious fanatics, there is a study to prove it. Research was conducted by a team of medical doctors and scientists, headed up by Prof Candy Gunther Brown from the University of Indiana. The study was conducted in rural Mozambique and included a group of 11 hard of hearing participants as well as 11 visually impaired people. The study found that when one or more people prayed for someone else, the improvements for that person is significant and measurable.

Neither did the patriarchs worship God in one spot, nor did Moses (i.e. his meeting God at the burning bush and elsewhere), nor did Israel during the post-Exodus wanderings, and nor, finally, did the Jews worship God alone in the temple Solomon built.

Should we be praying for those things we feel God will almost certainly not give us? If God hears us – because we pray according to God’s will – whatever we ask will be done for us. So, what exactly is God’s will? And just how many of our ‘wish list’ prayers are even appropriate?

God’s Spirit has been everywhere at all times. God’s Spirit is not an exclusive thing subject only to our understanding; it is in charge, everywhere. And it can take up residence in anything it chooses, anytime.

How else are we to reciprocate relating to God’s enormous blessing of respect – to give us (and trust us with) free will? This sort of trust is an utterly amazing concept. How will we repay this trust?

Understanding this fact of correct and aligning – indeed reconciling – theology helps us surmount what has possibly previously been impossible for us. That act of forgiveness that we’ve held back, incapable of mustering, suddenly is made very easily; now we understand that if God can forgive us, we can forgive anyone – indeed, God says we should.

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Jesus Christ: Who, being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” This is astounding Scripture, plain and simple.

Many Christians are concerned about just how to “pray without ceasing”. It’s as if there’s a sentiment – even an unspoken one – to suggest, “Surely that’s impossible to do.” Additionally, too many of us are concerned with praying at all. This article seeks to dispel the myths…

We are all examples be it for the wrong or right reasons. Understanding how our deeds affect the lives of others cannot be measured on any scale. However testifying before others has its misgivings and it is this misgivings that prey on our minds limiting us to what we can and can’t say. There is always the likelihood of being misunderstood or judged. In spite of this the power of testimony cannot be misplaced by these misgivings. A righteous testimony has a long way to travel and it is important to understand how this power can make a difference to our lives and those of others.
