Some may struggle with the fact that God will not respond to our emotional pleas by changing our circumstances. Many, many people have run from God for this very fact. And many will continue to do this. And, still, God empathises with our plight. Jesus, the man, the one who is also God, wept (John 11:35). He felt emotions.

Combining the best qualities of ambition with faith sees a sort of faith on anabolic steroids… a superabundant faith, perhaps. What could we possibly achieve, for ourselves and others, for actually diverting credit away from ourselves and onto others? What an ambition that would be.

The enemies that surround us in this day are rarely usually those that chase us like they chased David. Our enemies are often in our minds and those demons don’t quickly relent. When we feel we’re all alone…

Darkness and light, two very important concepts that often get little consideration by the vast majority of us as a result of many factors namely: materialism, success at all cost syndrome, gather while you can, me first, I want all syndrome and the goes on. These are some of the many reasons why we appear to ignore these two important live concepts, or pretend to do so.

Easier said that done, are the words that come to mind when we realize that even though we have put in the hours to achieve our goals and desires there is still plenty left to do. It is a feeling despondence, frustration and fear to know that we may not have reached the end of our tasks and that there is still a lot left to do before completion.

There are certain times when we believe we have received a message from God for the things we desire yet it appears that this is taking forever to come to fruition. It is at these times when we need a message or reminder of why we should wait for God’s promise to be fulfilled. Without these reminders we can loose our faith when it is put to test at such times.

If you are in a stressful situation and you want to be at peace all the time, you have to trust Jesus all the time. Trust Him completely so that you are always on an even keel and not happy and hopeful one day and then hapless and hopeless the next.

We can tell we have a broken finger by the pain we feel, and we can tell a broken perception in the same way, by the pain we feel. It is not necessarily a physical pain, although that can be a symptom, it is also emotional pain. We all have both of these kinds of pains at least some of the time.

Many religions have attempted to interpret the 6th Commandment “thou shalt not kill” to mean the murder of a human being. They go on to say that the original translation into English and the biblical explanations of the words killing and murder (which apparently pertain to humans only) justify the slaughter of animals for food and sport. The Catholic Church has also gone so far as to ludicrously state that animals have a different type of soul than a human. This speculation has originated from a poor fund of spiritual knowledge. We seemingly extend our compassion and love to our cats and dogs but due to our attachment and lust for blood and flesh we stingily withdraw our natural sympathetic understanding for those animals that need our protection and care the most – namely the poor unfortunate chickens, pigs, cows and especially, at this time of year, the turkeys. If we do not wake up and start to realize that all of God’s living creatures are there for our protection, and not to be mercilessly killed in the slaughterhouses, then society and the world will to continue to reap bad collective karma in the form of wars and other misfortunes.

The bodhisattva in Buddhism is the one who, having reached the very threshold of Nirvana, refrains from entering and instead returns to help all beings reach the ultimate state. Shantideva, the 8th century buddhist scholar, wrote A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life, or the Bodhicaryavatara. Shantideva emphasizes the significance, the importance, the rarity of a human birth from a karmic standpoint.

Often, when we first set out on the path of self-study, we begin with unrealistic or just plain mistaken expectations about what it will do for us. The unconscious wish that fuels this early stage of self-study is simply to become a better “old” person, rather than to become a completely new person.
