We cannot negotiate with the serious of sin. The Bible does not support any of these ways of thinking, and this is where Psalm 51 is so important and so apposite and relevant. The sin is specific, and there is a big cover up and further cover up.

If we were commanded to love God, but Christ freed us from the punishment of the commandments, that would seem to suggest that we would be free from the punishment of not loving God.
