When we give our lives to God, we ask him to come and be our Lord and Savior. What this means is that we are not the drivers of our lives and destinies anymore but Jesus Christ is. We stop living for ourselves but for God. We ask that his will may be done in our lives. Whatever he wants to do in us, he may do to the glory and honor of his Holy name.

Problems are a part of our every day life. We will always have a challenge we are facing at any given time in our lives. The Bible says, ‘Many are the afflictions of the righteous but God delivers him from them all.’ Psalms 34:19. We should therefore go on in life knowing that it is a battle field.

When God promises us greatness and overflow in our lives, we can choose to walk in that word or believe what we can see. Most of the time, God’s word and the situation we are in may contradict. The problem with most Christians is that we do not want to walk in faith but in what we see. God does not operate like that. When he gives us a word, he intends for us to walk in faith believing that it will come to pass no matter what.

Have you ever wondered if there is more to life than what you are experiencing? If you are like most people, you live in a state of consciousness below that which is attainable. There are different levels of consciousness and most people live in the lower levels their entire lives never knowing that it is possible to go higher. Experiential research that I and my cohorts have done over the years shows, without a doubt, that there are five levels of consciousness. See if you agree with me as we go through the five levels.

Happiness is not the same as inner peace. But the truth is that many people think or say, “I just want to be happy,” when what they really want (and if they’d introspect they’d know this) is more inner peace. The world is smaller now and we are bombarded on all sides with so much advertising, unwanted information, and imagery that our ability to be peaceful inside has gotten more challenging. It’s not your fault!

When planning to get married we inevitably have the fun task of choosing readings and special things to personalise our ceremonies–it’s perhaps the coolest thing to do in the lead up to one of the three most important days of life. Getting my then 12 year old daughter to read Psalm 97 at our wedding was a huge thrill for me; besides Zoe reading it, the psalm propounds the kingship of God over the whole earth. Whether the atheist or non-believer likes it or not, the facts related in this psalm cannot be disputed.

Summer is finally winding down, commonly accompanied by some degree of going, doing or partying. Labor Day might also serve as an introduction into the seasons of Fall and Winter, where Mother Nature takes a break for stillness and silence, a time to experience inner and outer peace. So, perhaps in the midst of all the activity that accompanies this holiday weekend, we might make an effort to find some time to “go inside” and just be with ourselves.
